I have been determined to capitalize on the metallic trend in knitwear this season. And my gold sweater is finished at last! I used Kim Hargreaves’ pattern Light from her new book, Still.
I added a metallic twist to the pattern by using two Rowan yarns: Rowan kidsilk haze eclipse in Virgo (gold):
and Rowan anchor artiste metallic fine in gold as well.
It is usually very difficult to find a gold yarn that looks expensive rather than cheap. However, I think this sweater does live up to its designer inspiration:
I was able to scavenge some wonderful Chanel buttons second hand, and I think they add a lot to the sweater:
I added waist shaping to the pattern and raised the button placket and neck opening by 1 ½ inches. Otherwise, I knitted the pattern exactly as written.
This sweater is going to get a lot of wear! Kidsilk haze yarn is very light, and in lace it is very comfortable to wear all year round!
