It has definitely been a learning experience, approaching my
knitting with a much more critical eye. I am finding that my obsession with not
ending up with a “craft project” is leading me to spend a lot more time
thinking about the finishing of the sweater, which is leading to better
results.
That brings me back to my knitting goals. In an earlier blog entry, I set a goal for myself for next year. I participated in NaKniSweMoDo this year, the Ravelry group of knitters that challenged themselves to knit one sweater a month in 2009. I have completed 14 sweaters to date, but quite a few of them were sleeveless camisoles, and only half are really wearable for anyone except my cat.
Notice that Bodhi looks much better in Blue than I do--it brings out the color of his eyes.
For next year, I have committed to knitting 12 sweaters
by November, 2010. The requirement is that they have
to be figure-flattering tops. I am planning for many of them to be V-necked,
and hoping I will be able to wear some percentage of them to work. At the end
of my year, I will post photos of my sweaters and poll my readers to decide which
are really fit to wear in a professional setting. The sweater challenge is on!
