Oscar de la Renta's reinterpretation of Charles James' ballgown tableau in Vogue
De Young Museum: Oscar de la Renta Exhibit (my photo)
I have written quite a bit about fashion makeovers on this blog, but now the blog itself has received a polishing up! Don't you love the photo above? I took it recently at the Oscar de la Renta exhibit in San Francisco. Charles James, the famous coutourier, had designed a scene for Vogue featuring fabulous ballgowns early in the century, and 50 years later Oscar de la Renta re-imagined a new, fresh take on the same idea for the magazine, complete with mohawks! We all need a bit of renovation for a new touch. Just as it is prudent to have your colors done from time to time, consult with a wardrobe specialist, or re-measure yourself, this blog needed a makeover, and violà!
With the help of one of my readers, I have organized my blog into categories that are listed on the upper right side of the home page. So if you want to read all about how to knit, Chanel-style, you will click on the category, Chanel-inspired knits, and it will take you here:

Stay tuned if you are interested in Paris knitting news, as I am shortly going to be spending 8 days in the Fashion capital this May! My Paris knitting friends have organized a surprise for me, and the location of our meeting place will not be divulged until the day itself so as not to spoil the surprise. Squeeeeaaaaal! Can’t wait!
I am currently knitting a scarf that I hope to wear in Paris. The pattern is the Bold Stripe Scarf by Sarah Hatton but the colors are my own. Hmmmm…I think I will take a leaf out of my knitting friends’ book and keep the color combination a secret until it is finished next week. Of course, in Paris, one feels completely naked without a scarf and there are many wonderful possibilities apart form the Bold Stripe Scarf pattern. Kate Gilbert, who lived in Paris for several years, designed Clapotis just for that purpose:
